7th Healthy Heart Walkthon and 15th Foundation Day of Bhanubhai and Madhuben Patel Cardiac Centre

On the occasion of the 15th foundation day of Bhanubhai and Madhuben Patel Cardiac Centre of Shree Krishna Hospital teaching hospital of Bhaikaka University, the seventh edition of the healthy heart walkathon was organized on 8th October 2023 to create awareness about heart diseases & to create a healthy heart environment in the city. More than 2,500 citizens of Anand, Vallabh Vidyanagar, and Karamsad participated in this Walkathon to create a buzz around the growing prevalence of Cardio Vascular Diseases (CVD). It tried to establish how walking and physical activity, in addition to a healthy diet & lifestyle can prevent falling prey to heart ailments. The three-kilometer walk was flagged off by Shri Prayaswinbhai Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of Elecon Industry, at 7 a.m. 

The enthusiastic participants were from all sections of society, including employees from Elecon Group of Companies, National Dairy Development Board, The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, Indian Dairy Manufacturing Company Ltd, Vidhya Dairy, The Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd (Amul), Anupam Mission, Rotary Club, Anand, Senior Citizen Club, Anand, Vithal Udyog Nagar Industrial Association (VUIA) and Charotar Gas Sahkari Mandli Limited They carried banners which emphasized the need to create an awareness about heart diseases and means to check and cure it. 

The walkathon was led by the Shri Prayaswinbhai Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of Elecon Industry, along with Shri Atul Patel (Chairman, Charutar Arogya Mandal), Shri Jagrut Bhatt (Hon. Secretary, Charutar Arogya Mandal), Dr. Utpala Kharod (Provost, Bhaikaka University), Dr. Harish Desai (Registrar, Bhaikaka University), Dr. Jyoti Tiwari (Controller of Academics, Bhaikaka University), Dr. Jitesh Desai (Medical Superintendent, Shree Krishna Hospital), Board of Trustees, doctors, students, volunteers of NSS Unit of the University and staff of Bhaikaka University took part. The walkathon began at Dr. HM Patel Statue, Near Nalini Arvind and T. V Patel Arts College, Vallabh Vidhya Nagar to Town Hall, Anand.

Shri Prayaswinbhai said "It is an immense feeling when we see people from all walks of life participate in this walkathon to create awareness about healthy lifestyle & heart. We must give due importance to the health of our hearts at a time when more and more people are falling sick with cardiovascular diseases. We hope that the sincere efforts put in by the team of Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad, and the participants have created a positive resonance for working towards a healthy heart environment”.

The interaction about the prevention and treatment of heart disease with experts of the Bhanubhai and Madhuben Patel Cardiac Centre was organized at the endpoint. Dr. Manish Tiwari (Head, Cardiology Department) spoke about cardiac surgery, the latest technology in cardiac surgery early recognition of heart attack symptoms, and timely treatment that can prevent heart attacks. Dr. Kushal Pujara (Adult Interventional Cardiologist) spoke about the reasons for sudden cardiac deaths, symptoms of heart diseases, and the latest interventions in cardiology. Dr. Sunil Karna (Adult Interventional Cardiologist) talked about lifestyle changes, including regular exercise and healthy eating habits. He emphasized that a family history of heart problems, stress, and unhealthy lifestyle choices are the main contributing factors to heart disease. 
On this occasion, a special cardiac health check-up package was announced by the cardiac center from 8th Oct - 8th Nov 2023. It includes ECG, ECHO, Lipid Profile, FBS, CBC, S.Creatinine, and consultation with a cardiologist and dietitian at just Rs. 1500/-
