8th GUJARAT CRITICON – 2022 was held from 7th to 9th October 2022 at Neejanand Luxurious Resort, Anand & Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad. The theme of the three days conference was “Redefining Critical Care: Think Global Act Local”.
It was hosted by the Society of Critical Care Medicine, ( ISCCM) Karamsad and Critical Care Department-Balalaika University. Nearly 570 delegates registered from all over Gujarat and other states, including Intensivists, Physicians, Critical Care Specialists, Chest Physicians, Anesthesiologists, and Doctors working in ICUs.
During the three days: informative scientific lectures, interactive sessions, and workshops were conducted by renowned experts in the field. Eleven National Faculties were present and shared their knowledge & practice. The idea of the Gujarat Criticon was to set new standards of learning and knowledge sharing.
On 7th October four training workshops were conducted at the Academic Centre of Bhaikaka University, Karamsad by senior faculties of ISCCM, Gujarat. More than 500 people attended. The subjects of the workshop were Critical Care Mechanical Ventilation, Comprehensive Airway management, Haemodynamic monitoring & POCUS in ICU, and Critical Care Nursing.
The unique of the three days conference was a Skit on Bugs v/s Drugs ( Supervillain v/s Super Heroes). It was scripted and performed by the Intensivist of Vadodara. The antibiotic prescription and knowledge of antibiotic selection were discussed very precisely and in an entertaining way. They played the characters of Mogambo, Gabbar Singh, Shakaal, Ajith, Chhota Bhim, Shaktiman, Bahubali, Krish, Munnabhai MBBS, Circuit, etc., and were presented in a natural and logical fashion.
In ‘Man Ki Bat Program the audience raised queries about day-to-day critical care practice and it was answered by National and State level experts.
The Core topic of critical care like SEPSIS was discussed in a panel discussion on ’‘Lagan Movie Theme". In this Indian local data & practice and International data & guidelines were debated by Bhuvan v/s Andrew Russell team.
The yoga session was arranged on 9th October at Nijanand Resort.
More than 100 oral papers & e posters were presented by P. G Residents and Critical Care Fellows from Gujarat & other states.
The intensivists of the Critical Care Department of SKH -Bhaikaka University Dr. Sunil Chhajwani, Dr. Samir Patel, Dr. Abhishek Prajapati, Dr. Archana Sinha, Dr. Rachit Patel, Dr. Dhaval Prajapati, Dr. Gunjan Desai, Dr. Bharat Prajapati, Dr. Abhishek Shah, Dr. Darshan Shah were the members of the organizing committee.
The event created a great impact on the development of Critical Care Medicine.
