Awareness Seminar on Sexual Harassment Conducted by Bhaikaka University

An awareness seminar on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013 was jointly organized by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Bhaikaka University, Karamsad, in collaboration with the Commissioner of the Women and Child Development Department, Anand. The event, held on June 20th, aimed to educate and empower employees about their rights and the procedures under the Act.

More than 80 nursing staff and 40 housekeeping woman attendants participated in the seminar, underscoring the significance of the initiative in fostering a safe and respectful workplace environment. Smt. Nileshawri Ba, District Officer of the Women and Child Development Department, Anand, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of promptly reporting any instances of sexual harassment. She highlighted that the Act was implemented in response to incidents like the Delhi bus rape case, urging women not to hesitate in filing complaints with the internal Complaints Committee of the organization or directly with the office of the Commissioner of Women and Child Development in the district.

Advocate Dr. Hiren Somaiya provided insights into the formation of the Internal Complaints Committee. He stressed the necessity of filing complaints in writing and cautioned that false complainants could face repercussions.

Dr. Pragya Nair, Chairman of the ICC, along with Smt. Hetal Dave, Member Secretary of the ICC, and Shri Kartik Pandya, ICC member and Head of Personnel and Administrative Department of  Bhaikaka University, were present at the seminar, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in addressing workplace harassment.
