Bhaikaka University , Karamsad celebrated the 10th International Yoga Day with zeal, highlighting the manifold benefits of yoga through a series of engaging activities. The university's celebration began with an impressive Surya Namaskar competition, which took place on June 20th at the Activity Centre. Students from various disciplines participated eagerly, showcasing their physical abilities and mental focus through the challenging yoga sequence. Rudra Kotadia, studying physiotherapy, achieved first place, with Chetankumar Vegad, a dedicated diploma yoga student, securing second position. Divyaben Dhaduk (Anand District yoga coordinator from Gujarat State Yoga Board), Mr. Sanjay Yadav, and Dr. Sadhana Saraiya served as judges for the Surya Namaskar competition.
Dr. Utpala Kharod, Provost of Bhaikaka University, received special recognition for her pivotal role in advocating and advancing the practice of yoga and Surya Namaskar within the university community. The celebrations continued with a unique blend of yoga and Garba dance known as 'Yog Garba', organized by the Women`s Development Cell of Bhaikaka University in collaboration with the Woman Doctors Association, Anand. This event, held on June 19th, saw enthusiastic participation from around 50 women, underscoring the cultural fusion and community spirit fostered through yoga.
On June 21st, International Yoga Day itself, a grand yoga session took place at Sardar Patel Memorial, Karamsad organized by the Anand district collector. Dr. Utpala Kharod (Provost), Dr. Jyoti Tiwari (Registrar), principals, and around 300 students and staff members from Bhaikaka University actively participated in the session. The event was led by Dr. Manisha Gohel and Dr. Sadhna Saraiya, who demonstrated various yoga practices to the participants.
