Bhaikaka University, Karamsad holds 1st convocation ceremony

The 1st Convocation ceremony of Bhaikaka University, Karamsad was held on 1st October, 2023. Lieutenant-General Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar (Retd). PVSM, AVSM, VSM. Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik graced the occasion with her esteemed presence as the Chief Guest of the program.

The auspicious event witnessed an inspiring procession led by Dr. Ashok Nair (Controller of Examination, Bhaikaka University), accompanied by the distinguished Chief Guest, Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar, Shri Atul Patel (President, Bhaikaka University), Shri Jagrut Bhatt, (Hon. Secretary, Bhaikaka University), Dr. Utpala Kharod (Provost, Bhaikaka University), Dr.Harish Desai (Registrar, Bhaikaka University), Dr. Jyoti Tiwari (Controller of Academics),

Dr. Jitesh Desai (Medical Superintendent, Shree Krishna Hospital), Dean and Principals of constituent institutions of Bhaikaka University, Members of the governing body, Board members, Degree holders and Gold medalists. The SRP band from Nadiad led the convocation procession under the leadership of Shri PD Patel, SRPF Seven, Nadiad. The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, President, Hon. Secretary, Provost, and Registrar accompanied by prayer for unity and solidarity. This was followed by the President officially declaring the convocation open.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Utpala Kharod shared insights of the academic year 2023 and presented the annual report. She said that the constituent institutions of the university offer UG and PG courses in Medicine, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Medical Technology, and Diploma courses in Medical Technology and Allied Health Sciences. It also offers Master of Public Health (MPH) & Ph.D. Programme in all Disciplines, DrNB, Fellowships, and Yoga. Around 1,600 students pursue their studies in 82 different programs, including niche specialties. She further highlighted that Bhaikaka University is the first in the state of Gujarat to offer super-specialty courses in DM Neonatology.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar delivered an inspiring speech and extended her heartfelt congratulations to all the graduating students. She told the audience that though she had studied Doctor of Medicine degree in pediatrics and served as a Deputy Chief of Integrated Defense Staff (Medical) under the Chief of Defense Staff, She held various management roles in her long career, gaining valuable insights and experiences that she wished to share with the audience. She wholeheartedly wished every student the best for their bright future.

She added that all gold medalists at Bhaikaka University are girls. Women have achieved high positions in various fields. Now the Women’s Reservation Bill gets a Parliament seal. She emphasized that all students should spend 20 percent of their time on extra-curricular activities and 80 percent on studies.

Shri Atul Patel (President, Bhaikaka University) gave his presidential remarks blessed the students, and advised them to emphasize the values, principles, knowledge, and skills instilled during their academic journey. He urged the students to cherish the memories of their time at Bhaikaka University, acknowledging the support and guidance received from the faculty and the extensive alumni network.

He added that this was the first convocation of the university that fulfilled the dreams of founder chairman, Dr HM Patel. He embarked on building an institution that Dr. HM Patel envisioned to fill the long-felt need for the faculty of Medicine. He further added that the institute is in the process of establishing a skill lab and expansion of the Nursing Institute.

The convocation ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Harish Desai (Registrar, Bhaikaka University) who congratulated all the students for their remarkable achievements and best wishes for their future endeavors. The event served as a testament to Bhaikaka University's commitment to fostering excellence, knowledge, and leadership among the students, contributing to the growth and progress in the field of the health professions, and providing healthcare to the community at large.
