Bhaikaka University, Karamsad sets up a 'Cycling Club'
Cycling for a healthier lifestyle and to save the environment the Bhaikaka University Cycling Club (BUCC), under the banner of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit organized the first cycle ride on Saturday, 17th Sept 2022. The theme of setting up the cycling club is “Cycle to Recycle”.
The event was part of a planned monthly ride. The inaugural ride was flagged off by Provost, BU Dr. Utpala Kharod at 7.00 am from the Sports ground of the University and passed through Bhaikaka Statue - Motabazar, Sastri Maidan - V. V. Nagar to H M Patel Statue, Near Nalini Arts College, V. V. Nagar and from there returned in the same route before culminating at the starting point. It was Nearly 50 participants of various ages took part including students, faculties, and staff in the ride which covered 11 KM. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kharod called upon the people to make cycling a part of life for good fitness.
The cycling club is the brainchild of Dr. R Harihara Prakash, Principal- K M Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, the constituent institution of BU. Dr. Harihara said that the cycling club was started with the intention of educating the University's staff and students about the advantages of cycling.
It provides physical exercise and saves the environment by reusing recycled commodities.
