BU celebrated the 3rd National Pharmacovigilance Week

The 3rd National Pharmacovigilance Week from 17th to 23rd September 2023 was celebrated at the Department of Pharmacology, Pramukhswami Medical College of Bhaikaka University at Karamsad under the Pharmacovigilance program of India. The theme of this celebration was "Boosting public confidence in pharmacovigilance". 

Dr. Himanshu Pandya, Dean of Pramukhswami Medical College inaugurated the week-long celebration. Dr. Alpa Gor, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology and coordinator of PVPI briefed about the objectives and various activities of the week's celebration.

The medical officers, pharmacists, nurses, village health workers, Asha workers, and field supervisors were educated on various issues of adverse drug reactions, monitoring and reporting, medication errors, use of self-medication, and how to store and dispose of the medicines. This was part of raising awareness and increasing their confidence in pharmacovigilance.

The students of various colleges of Bhaikaka University have participated in rangoli, essay, poster, and video-making competitions and presented based on theme. 

The theme-based videos were also displayed throughout the week's celebration in the corridor of the main reception of Shree Krishna Hospital. 

Pamphlets were distributed to all stakeholders regarding various side effects of medicine, risks, and benefits of self-medication, and how to dispose of medicine.

The valedictory function was organized on 25th September. The judges and winners were felicitated by certificates and prizes.
