BU Celebrates Women's Day with Multifaceted Events

Bhaikaka University marked International Women's Day, themed "For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment," with a series of impactful events.

 

On February 28th, the university, in collaboration with its Women Development Cell,hosted a vibrant 40 -stall exhibition. Over 80 students and staff members participated, showcasing a diverse range of handmade items, including handlooms, food products, kurtas, saris, jewelry, paintings, and crafts. Shri Atul Patel, President of Charutar Arogya Mandal, inaugurated the exhibition, commended the participants, and visited each stall. The event was graced by Dr. Abhay Dharamsi, Provost of Bhaikaka University, Dr. Jyoti Tiwari, Registrar, Dr. Jitesh Desai, Medical Superintendent of Shree Krishna Hospital, and Dr. Pragya Nair, Women Development  Cell Convener. Dr. Dipal Bhat, Member Secretary, managed the program, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the university staff.

 

On March 8th, the university, in association with its Internal Complaints Committee, organized a panel discussion and special lecture in the university lecture hall. Dr. Gauri Trivedi, President of Bhaikaka University, delivered a special address, emphasizing the continued importance of human connection in the age of AI and robotic surgery. She highlighted the critical role of doctors in patient care and encouraged students to emulate the humanitarian work of Dr. Ravi Kannan of Cachar Hospital and Research Centre, who provides free cancer treatment to underprivileged communities in remote areas of Assam. She urged students to prioritize compassion in their patient interactions.

 

The panel discussion focused on gender equality. Participants included Dr. Kinjal  Ahir, Professor and Head of the Economics Department at Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar; Dr. Suman Singh, Assistant Dean, Academic Excellence & Accreditation, at Bhaikaka University; Dr. Mustafa Ranapurwala, Assistant Dean of Clinical Excellence and Accreditation; Dr. Chirag Modi, Professor of Microbiology; Dr. R. Harihara Prakash, Principal of K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy; and Prof. Sailesh Panchal, In-charge Principal of the School of Nursing Sciences.

 

Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad, participated  as the medical partner for the 'Moms of Vadodara' 5th annual Red Sari Run in Vadodara on March 9th, 2025. During the event, Dr. Prachi Pillai, a breast disease and breast cancer expert from the hospital, emphasized the importance of annual checkups for women over 40.
