Smt L P Patel Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology and CAM Institute of Allied Health Sciences & Technology, the constituent institutions of Bhaikaka University, conducted the orientation programme on 3-4 August 2023 for first-year students admitted for the new academic year 2023-2024.
Dr. Utpala Kharod (Provost, Bhaikaka University) and Dr. Harish Desai (Registrar, Bhaikaka University) congratulated the students.
Dr. Sonal Chitroda (I/C Principal, Smt L P Patel Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology and CAM Institute of Allied Health Sciences & Technology) welcomed the students and parents.
Dr. Jyoti Tiwari (Controller of Academics, Bhaikaka University) provided information about hospital services, various programs at Bhaikaka University, and courses on medical technology and rules at the medical technology college. She also urged students to take the benefit of campus facilities.
The Information on various subjects was provided by Dr. Viral Patel (Radiology Department), Dr. Rupal Patel (Microbiology Department), Dr. Keyuri Patel (Pathology Department), and Dr. Ushma Parikh (Anesthesiology Department).
Moreover, the information on the anti–ragging policy, consequences of ragging, and where to approach for redressal in case of ragging, etc was provided by Dr. Dinesh Bhanderi.
Dr. Bharat Gajjar delivered information about comprehensive access to books, journals, a thesis, and dissertations covering diverse disciplines at the Central Library and various sections of the library like computer, reading, and photocopy.
Dr. Anusha Prabhkaran gave information on stress management and said that psychological stress is one of the most common problems faced by medical and para-medical students in their day-to-day life. Practicing mindfulness, mental health awareness, and seeking help from experts can be beneficial in coping with stress as a para-medical student. Dr. Prabhkaran Informed that psychiatric department of the university guides the students in coping with stress.
Dr. Alpa Gor informed the students about the mentorship program of the university. She said that the university provides mentorship programs for both undergraduate as well as postgraduate students. The issues like attendance, academic performance, hostel life on campus, and any other problems faced by the students are discussed, to provide psychological and moral support.
Shri Nigam Madan provided information about time management and said that many students often struggle with finding time to get their assignments or studying done. This can cause them to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and stressed. However, with proper time management, they can study well and focus on all aspects of their college life.
Ankita Bhatia (Assistant Professor, LP Patel Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology) informed the students about the various courses in Health, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She said that students can develop their personalities by enrolling in cultural studies, ancient and modern languages, law, literature, history, philosophy, and reflection, creative writing, performing arts - music, dance, and theatre, and visual arts - painting, sculpting and architecture that also emphasis interpreting, valuing, and self-knowing.
