Shri Atul Patel (Chairman, Charutar Arogya Mandal), and Dr. Utpala Kharod (Provost, Bhaikaka University) signed MOU with Shri Arvindbhai Shah, (Chairman, Jaya Foundation, Mumbai) to establish “Jaya Rehabilitation Centre and Research Institute” at Bhaikaka University, Karamsad on 16th January 2024 at Bhikhabhai Auditorium.
The function was graced by the dignitaries Shri Jagrut Bhatt (Hon . Secretary, Charutar Arogya Mandal), Dr. Harish Desai (Registrar, Bhaikaka University), Principals of Constituent Institutions of Bhaikaka University, Dr. Jitesh Desai (Medical Superintendent, Shree Krishna Hospital), Shri Mitesh Patel (MP - Anand), Shri Yogesh Patel (MLA-Anand), Shri Rajeshbhai Patel (Dharmaj), BJP president, Anand, Shri Kamlesh Patel (MLA-Anand), Shri Sanjay Patel (Ex-MLA Khambhat), Shri Ramanbhai Solanki (Deputy Chief Dandak, Gujarat Vidhansabha). The family members of Jaya Foundation Smt. Jaya Shah, Shri Rikesh Patel, Shri Ajay Patel, and staff of Bhaikaka University were also present during the occasion.
Shri Atul Patel briefed that the centre will be a boon to the community of Gujarat and neighboring states., as they will get affordable and AI-based comprehensive rehabilitation care including Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy having provisions to use of orthotic and prosthetic devices under one roof. He added that the centre will be established with the generous financial support of the Jaya Foundation. The first phase will cost Rs 15 crore.
Shri Arvindbhai elaborated that the zeal to give back to society has motivated him to establish a rehabilitation centre at Bidada, Kutch in 2005. This centre was felicitated with the Presidential Award in the year 2011 for its remarkable service to differently-abled persons. He added that to cater to the wide range of rehabilitation services for Jain Sadhu and Sant, a rehabilitation centre was established at Palitana in the year 2018. And now in central Gujarat, at Bhaikaka University, Karamsad, we are planning to build state-of-the-art modern rehabilitation facilities using robotic AI technology.
Dr. R. Harihara, Principal of K . M Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, Bhaikaka University explained that the main objective of the Rehabilitation Centre is to ensure that the centre is accessible to individuals with disabilities and provide services to a diverse range of patients including stroke, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, global milestones delay, etc. He added that the centre will focus on the needs and preferences of patients, tailoring treatment plans to reduce or eliminate the disability; train the person with disabilities to achieve independent living, and promote participation in education, work, recreation, and meaningful life roles.
