Cardiac Centre of Shree Krishna Hospital, the teaching hospital of Bhaikaka University Achieved Excellence in Infant Mitral Valve Repairs.
The Pediatric Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon Dr. Vishal Bhende of Bhanubhai & Madhuben Patel Cardiac Centre of Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad the teaching hospital of Bhaikaka University conducted the successful heart valve repair of a ten-year-old boy who had been diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease with mitral regurgitation.
The boy was a native of Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, and had difficulty in breathing. His parents took him to Cardiac Camp at Dahod where Dr. Bhadra Trivedi, Cardiologist of SKH, Cardiac Centre did an echocardiogram and diagnosed that he had a deficiency in the heart valve and advised further treatment at Karamsad.
According to Dr. Bhende, “For babies and children with congenital mitral stenosis, it’s well-established that repairing the mitral valve leads to better outcomes than replacing it. But repairing the valve is not always possible—and success requires a highly integrated team approach. I have discussed the preoperative team's planning process, their keys to success, and what the future may hold for mitral valve repairs with Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. Bhadra Trivedi. I have extensive experience in performing the most complex mitral valve repairs in infants and children”.
The financial condition of the child`s father was not good hence the surgery was performed under Aayushman Yojna.
