The Women Development Cell organized a workshop on "Gender Sensitization" on 11th September for the faculty members of constituent institutes at Bhaikaka University. This workshop aimed to promote understanding, respect, and equality, essential for building a more inclusive society. Gender sensitivity involves not only recognizing the differences between genders but also addressing inequalities and upholding the dignity of all individuals.
The workshop commenced with a warm welcome to the participants by Ms. Dipal Bhatt, Member Secretary of the Women Development Cell, followed by a prayer and the lighting of the lamp by distinguished speakers and guests. These included Ms. Renu Khanna, In-charge Registrar (Dr. Ashok Nair), former Chairperson of the WDC (Dr. Utpala Kharod), Convener of the WDC (Dr. Pragya Nair), & Heads of constituent institutes of BU.
Dr. Pragya Nair expressed her delight at the enthusiastic participation and extended a heartfelt welcome to all guests and participants. She introduced the guest speaker, Ms. Renu Khanna, highlighting her expertise in gender sensitization and her significant achievements. Dr. Ashok Nair addressed the participants, emphasizing the role of gender sensitization in daily life and its importance in creating a more equitable society.
The workshop began with an introductory session for the participants, explaining the workshop's purpose. It then delved into the role of gender sensitization in the workplace and everyday life. The discussion covered various aspects, from the definitions of gender and sex to the gender hierarchy in modern society. To enhance understanding, an interactive activity called "Power Walk" was conducted, which the participants found quite engaging and informative.
A total of 30 participants attended the workshop. The Women Development Cell of BU presented the speaker with a memento and certificate as a token of appreciation. The program concluded with a vote of thanks and refreshments.
