The Pharmacology Department of Pramukhswami Medical College, Bhaikaka University, marked the beginning of the 4th National Pharmacovigilance Week with a vibrant inauguration ceremony today. The event, themed "Building ADR Reporting Culture for Patient Safety," aimed to enhance awareness and promote the culture of Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reporting. The ceremony commenced with a traditional prayer and the lighting of the lamp by distinguished dignitaries. Dr. Alpa Gor, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Coordinator of the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), provided an insightful overview of the week’s objectives and planned activities. Following her address, Dr. Himanshu Pandya, Dean of Pramukhswami Medical College, officially declared the commencement of National Pharmacovigilance Week. The inauguration was further enhanced by the valuable contributions of esteemed speakers, including Dr. Jitesh Desai, Superintendent of Shree Krishna Hospital; Dr. Shirish Srivastava, Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery; and Dr. Bhalendu Vaishnav, Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine. Each speaker highlighted the critical importance of ADR reporting and its impact on patient safety. Dr. Hemlata Kamat, Head of Trauma and Emergency, and Dr. Alpa Patel, Professor and Head of the Department of Anesthesia, along with other faculty members and residents from the Department of Pharmacology, also attended the event. The participation of undergraduate students from two batches of Phase II further underscored the event's educational significance. The inauguration concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Nazima Mirza, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem.
