KMPIP Celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities

On December 3, 2024, K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, a constituent institution of Bhaikaka University, joined the global community in observing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This year's theme, "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future," served as the guiding principle for the institute's celebratory program, held at the Bhaikhabhai Auditorium. The event brought together various organizations dedicated to the empowerment of individuals with disabilities, including Mitra Rehabilitation Centre, Mogri; Andh Apangjan Vikas Mandal, Mogri; National Association for the Blind, Vallabh Vidyanagar; Sathi Special School, Borsad; and Gurukrupa Residential Special School, Anand. Students from these institutions participated in cultural programs which promoted confidence and personal development.

The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. Abhay Dharamsi, Provost; Dr. Jyoti Tiwari, Registrar; Dr. Harihara Prakash, Principal of K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy; Dr. Jitesh Desai, Superintendent of Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad; as well as heads of various institutes, faculty members, and students. Also in attendance were trustees Shri Ramesh Shah and Shri Jayesh Shukla.

Dr. Abhay Dharamsi emphasized the remarkable potential of individuals with disabilities, noting that they possess inherent abilities and should be fully included in all aspects of society. He further highlighted Bhaikaka University's dedication to providing state-of-the-art facilities and fostering an inclusive environment for all students.

Dr. Harihara Prakash, emphasizing the institute's 25-year legacy, highlighted its dedication to empowering individuals with disabilities through various activities. He mentioned the organization of the Special Olympics as a testament to this commitment.

Dr. Jyoti Tiwari honored Vedanshi Prafulkumar Patel, a remarkable student who has excelled in athletics by winning silver, bronze, and gold medals at both district and national levels. She is also the brand ambassador for the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" campaign in Anand district.Students from the K. M. Patel Institute of Physiotherapy presented a play that conveyed a powerful message: individuals with disabilities are not defined by their limitations but possess immense talent and potential.
