National E-Seminar on Palliative Care: Navigating Complexities.
The Department of Adult Health Nursing at the Institute of Nursing Sciences and Shri G.H. Patel School of Nursing, Bhaikaka University, Karamsad in collaboration with Pallium India, successfully conducted a National E-Seminar on Palliative Care from November 12 to 14, 2024.
Themed Navigating Complexities: A Deep Dive into Palliative Care, the seminar attracted 350 enthusiastic participants, including nursing faculty, nursing officers, and
M.Sc. and
B.Sc. nursing students from ten Indian states: Maharashtra, Bangalore, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, Goa, and Gujarat.
Accredited by the Indian Nursing Council (1.5 CNE credits) and the Gujarat Nursing Council (2 credit hours), the program offered a comprehensive exploration of palliative care concepts, aiming to enhance participants' understanding.
The seminar commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Shailesh Panchal, Principal of the Nursing Sciences and Shri G.H. Patel School of Nursing. Esteemed speakers from Pallium India and the Indian Association of Palliative Care led insightful sessions, fostering engaging discussions on various aspects of palliative care. These sessions included a quiz with 51 participants and case study presentations.
The second day delved into specialized nursing strategies for optimal care, featuring 17 scientific paper presentations and a review of Day 1 discussions.
The event culminated with a captivating keynote address by Dr. M. R. Rajgopal, (Padmashri awardee) a pioneer in palliative care, who shared his experiences and journey in the field.
This National E-Seminar equipped participants with valuable knowledge and skills in pain management and end-of-life care, empowering them to provide better patient care in their respective healthcare settings.
