The Department of Medicine of Shree Krishna Hospital and Bhaikaka University conducted World Diabetes Week celebrations (14 November to 20 November 2021) comprising various educational and patient care activities. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the discovery of insulin and the theme this time is: “Access to diabetes care: if not now, when?”
Video audio talks, debates, quiz contests, poster competitions, talks by eminent persons, training programmes, evaluations, and the release of a booklet on `Decoding Insulin` were the highlights of the celebrations.
A booklet on `Decoding Insulin` by the Department of Medicine, was released. Guest Lectures by eminent Endocrinologists Dr. Rucha Mehta and Dr. Om Lakhani were organized on the topic of Diabesity and Technology in Diabetes. The UG and PG students of the university participated in Debates, quizzes, and Poster Competitions.
The hospital took the initiative by evaluating Non-communicable disease (NCD) patients at Medical OPD. It raised the standard of care for hypertensive and diabetic patients. The hospital also runs a Diabetes Clinic at The Healing Tree, Premium services of the Shree Krishna Hospital.
Training to the Healthcare Staff of the SPARSH program about gestational diabetes and diabetes screening was provided. Shree Krishna Hospital`s Programme for Advancement of Rural and Social Health( SPRASH) programme is an innovative programme that is being implemented in 150 villages of Anand, Kheda, and Panchmahal districts for diagnosing and treating Non- Communicable Diseases in the community.
